Colorful children's playroom with toys and a toolbox

Welcome to the World of No-Quam

A place where Big Feelings aren't wrong - they help us grow Strong.

Emotional education with no qualms!

Curiosity | Clarity | Connection

No-Quam was created to make emotional education simple, joyful, and science-backed. Developed by a Harvard-trained psychologist, our tools help kids ages 3–7 learn how to name, understand, and manage their feelings while giving parents and teachers the confidence to support them.
At the heart of our brand is The Feelings Toolbox, a playful pairing of storybook and hands-on tools designed to turn everyday moments into opportunities for emotional growth. We believe emotional literacy should be as natural as learning ABCs...and just as fun!

Our Story

No-Quam was founded to address a huge gap in accessible emotional education for children ages 3 to 7, and their caregivers. After working for over two decades as a clinical psychologist at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Karen Jacob witnessed how deeply early emotional invalidation can shape mental health across the lifespan. Many children simply aren’t given the opportunity to learn about their feelings in a safe, developmentally appropriate way.
As a mother of three herself, Dr. Jacob saw how powerful it was to teach kids about their emotions early on and in ways that are playful and relatable, specifically without stigma, jargon, or shame. No-Quam was created to bridge that gap and bring evidence-based psychological strategies into homes and classrooms.

Where Does the Name “No-Quam” Come From?

Like many great things, our name started as a family inside joke. When Dr. Jacob's kids were little, they’d say “O Quam!” instead of “Okay.” The phrase stuck and over time, “No-Quam” became a family motto, a lighthearted way to say: no worries, we’ve got this.
It wasn’t until years later that the name took on even deeper meaning as Dr. Jacob developed and authored The Feelings Toolbox.
What started as a family phrase is now a company where big feelings are welcomed, not pushed away. A place where emotional education is playful, practical, and grounded in real science. No-Quam exists to give children (and the grownups who care for them!) the tools to talk about emotions in healthy, confident, and stigma-free ways.

What Experts Are Saying...

"As an Early Childhood Special Educator, most of what I do throughout the school day is help students identify their emotions and express themselves in a way that is appropriate and meaningful. The Feelings Toolbox, acknowledges and names the emotions, identifying that all feelings have a purpose. This concept promotes self-awareness and resiliency in our children, as it identifies age-appropriate strategies that can help to manage a variety of emotions. The book contains age-appropriate vocabulary and detail, as well as colorful and relatable Illustrations. The flow of The Feelings Toolbox, as well as the tools that are included support follow up discussion and activities in the classroom setting.”

"This book is something I wish I had when my kids were younger, but am excited to use in my psychotherapy practice. Allowing kids to feel and acknowledge all their emotions - not just the ‘good’ ones, is perfectly put to words. The toolbox that accompanies the book is a brilliant addition. It doesn’t just leave you with theory—it invites you to take action, to understand and process your emotions in a way that’s deeply practical. The author's approach to understanding emotions feels both personal and universal, making it impossible not to feel connected to each emotion.”

"The Feelings Toolbox is a wonderful story that empowers children to understand that changing how they feel lies within and when they chose to, they can use a few special tools to manage their emotions. This accessible story is a wonderful reminder to children that feelings come and go but sometimes we need to use a couple tools from our toolbox when we feel stuck. Dr. Jacob does an artful job taking emotion regulation skills from evidenced based treatments and making them playfully accessible to young children."

“Like Dr. Jacob herself, this little story is straightforward, concise, and humble while yielding major results.  It artfully distills powerful evidence-based techniques to equip children to accurately recognize what is felt, accept distressing perceptions, and embrace positive experiences.  These are nothing less than the building blocks of a resilient mind that is sensible to oneself and others.  What toolbox could be more elemental and necessary for children to flourish during our fragmented times than this?”
